Choosing the perfect diamond for an engagement ring comes down to four key factors: cut, colour, clarity and carat.

CUT: The cut affects how well a diamond reflects light, enhancing its brilliance. A well-cut diamond captures and returns light to create stunning sparkle.

COLOUR: Diamonds are graded on a colour scale from D (colourless) to Z (noticeable tint). The closer a diamond is to being colourless (D-F grades), the rarer and more valuable it is. Diamonds graded above G have slight colour but still offer excellent value.

CLARITY: Clarity measures the presence of natural imperfections, or inclusions, within the stone. The clarity scale ranges from Flawless (F) and Internally Flawless (IF), where no inclusions are visible even under 10x magnification, to Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS1, VVS2), where inclusions are extremely difficult to see. Very Slightly Included (VS1, VS2) diamonds have minor inclusions that are hard to detect under magnification, while Slightly Included (SI1, SI2) stones may have noticeable inclusions, though often not visible to the naked eye. Included (I1, I2, I3) diamonds have visible inclusions that may affect transparency and brilliance.

CARAT WEIGHT: Carat refers to the size and weight of the diamond. Larger diamonds are rarer and more expensive, but it’s important to balance carat weight with cut, colour, and clarity for the best overall value.

COLOURED GEMSTONES: Coloured stones such as sapphires, emeralds, and rubies make for striking alternatives to diamonds. They bring a personalised touch and unique vibrancy to an engagement ring, offering an expression of individuality and timeless beauty.
