A 1930s platinum and  diamond brooch. A beautiful lozenge shaped brooch that unmount from the frame to become a pair of diamond double clips. Set with 2 principle round brilliant-cut diamonds surrounded by pavé set diamonds with baguette diamonds on the border.

A Pair of Scrolling Ribbon Design Platinum and Diamond Double Clip Brooches

A gorgeous pair of large platinum and diamond double clips brooches, both in a scrolling ribbon design set with approximately 18 carats of brilliant and baguette cut diamonds. Circa 1950s.

The word diamond is derived from the Greek — Adamantos and the Latin — Adamantum, from which the English word ‘adamant’ is born. This name refers to the durability and hardness of the stone. Diamonds are the hardest of all gemstones, being ranked number 1 on the Mohs scale. This is 10x harder than Corundum which is ranked 2 on the Mohs scale.

A Pair of 1930s Platinum and Diamond Scrolling Clip – Earrings

A pair of platinum and diamond clip earrings in a scrolling cornucopia design. Each set with graduated circle and baguette-cut diamonds with a simple clip fitting which enables the pair to also be worn as double clips.

The shifting pace of women’s lifestyles played an important role in the evolution of women’s fashion and adornment. With the First World War, women from all sections of society began working. The elaborate constructions of Edwardian jewellery became impractical and simpler forms were favoured in rings, earrings and bracelets.

Platinum became the primary metal used in jewellery. It’s strength allowed for minimum amounts of metal to support the stones. Thereby giving prominence to the stones that seem.
