Antique Silver Foliate Motif Ornate Fruit Bowl by Fabergé

A silver fruit bowl by Fabergé, on short straight foot, oval-shaped, with rounded body and beaded outer rim, the lower section fluted, the upper section chased with an ornate pattern band of foliate motif, a pair of ribbon-shaped vertical handles concluding at either side of the bowl’s base with a leaf design. The base marked Fabergé with the Imperial warrant, the assay master’s mark initialled A.C and dated 1896, assay marks for “84” standard silver and the city mark for Moscow. Measuring approx. 20cm and 29cm at its widest points. Circa 1896.

Faberge has become synonymous with the last days of the Russian Royal family.

In 1882, the 24 year old Peter Carl Faberge inherited the family jewellery firm from his father Gustav. With his brother, Agathon, Carl Faberge quickly revolutionised his father’s business into an international sensation that produced some of the world’s most exceptional curiosities and jewels.
