A pair of modern earrings designed by Morelle Davidson. They exude a timeless elegance and display exquisite workmanship. A round brilliant diamond stud at the ear holds two diverging strands of alternating baguette and round diamonds which meet a square emerald-cut Colombian emerald centrepiece, adorned below by baguette and round diamond tassels. Set in platinum. Total emerald weight 13.56 cts, total diamond weight 2.53 cts. In a fitted box.
The name ‘emerald’ was not used in England until the 16th century and has its roots in Latin, ‘smaragdus’, and the later mediaeval; ‘esmerande’, ‘emerande’ and ‘esmeralde’. All of these names refer to the deep green colour of the stone.
